The stone truck was documented on video before the march started. Video footage shows police throwing stones at protesters, not the reverse. The police buildup was disproportionate and preemptive: 5,000+ personnel, electrified barricades, internet shutdown, all for a student protest. Police wore no name tags, eliminating accountability.
The march was peaceful until the barricade breach attempt at 11:25 AM. No violence was reported from 4 AM to 11:25 AM. The first use of force was police lathi charge after protesters tried to push past barricades.
However, the vehicle overturned near Janpath and 50+ injuries to police personnel suggest some protesters did engage in violence once clashes began. Whether these were genuine CJP supporters or infiltrators cannot be confirmed from available reporting.
The most accurate summary: The state created a pressure cooker, then lit the match.

Pradhan posted his two-page resignation letter on X (Twitter), addressed to PM Modi. President accepted it with immediate effect under Article 75(2).

I have sent my resignation letter to the Prime Minister. I deeply respect the aspirations, feelings, and legitimate expectations of the country's youth."
